Pocket Reader - Web

Tips

Narration & Playback

Timer disabled.

Expressive Narration (Pocket TTS only)

These tuning options apply to Pocket TTS. They have no effect on Device voices.

Uses one same-voice emotional reference per paragraph for stable audiobook narration.

Neutral avoids sudden changes in tone. Balanced uses emotion tags but can introduce strange voice issues.

Adds silence after punctuation without changing narrator or emotion route.

Insert a custom silence where you type [1.2s] or [10s] in the text.

Example: basically = bay sick lee. Changes force fresh Pocket audio cache entries.

Display & Themes

Accessibility & Accommodations

Increases hitboxes and spacing for navigation buttons, sliders, and stars to assist with motor control.

Configures how the reader highlights and tracks spoken text. Instant or disabled options can reduce motion sickness.

Performance

Current narration engine, worker state, GPU mode, and backend latency. These values are diagnostic signals, not permanent settings.

Connect Accounts

How to find your cookies: Press F12 or open Developer Tools, go to the Application tab (Storage in Firefox), select Cookies, click the site URL, and copy the values for 'a' and 'b' (for FA) or the PHPSESSID (for SoFurry).

Advanced Settings & Info >
Caution: Changing these settings without understanding them can cause the app to crash, produce silent or static audio, or perform poorly. The app automatically resets advanced settings to safe defaults if it detects a crash on the next launch. Stable settings are saved between sessions.

Storage & Backup

Low Memory Mode

Reduces animation and background work for constrained devices. Use this when the browser reports less than 4 GB RAM, tabs reload in the background, or synthesis becomes unstable.

Advanced Performance

Hardware detection and fallback controls for Pocket TTS. Leave these on automatic unless diagnostics point to a GPU or memory problem.

CPU Cores: - Auto Workers: - GPU Vendor: detecting... SIMD / SAB: -
Worker pool override

Increasing workers may cause audio glitches or UI lag on weaker devices.

Narration backend

Auto uses this device's local setup result, then the full narration watchdog keeps WebGPU only while it remains faster and stable. This choice never follows your account to another device.

Device Profile

Best-effort browser hardware signals. Browsers intentionally round or hide some values, especially RAM and GPU model.

Site Health

Diagnostics

Run a full self-test of the app's capabilities and generate a report you can send to the developer to help fix issues.
